Filing closed on Dec. 30 to declare candidacy for open board seats on the April 7, 2026, election ballot. One candidate has declared for each position on the Bourbon Board of Aldermen and the Crawford County R-1 Board of Education.
James Naquin filed at 4:10 p.m. on Dec. 22 for Ward 1 Alderman.
City Clerk Cathy Bremer reported on Dec. 12 that two people had filed for the open seats. Current Ward 2 Alderman John Nelson at 1:25 p.m. on Dec. 9, declared for the mayoral seat. Sky Huddleston at 10:35 a.m. on Dec. 10 filed for Ward 2 Alderman.
Huddleston rescinded his declaration of candidacy to run for Ward 2 Alderman and filed for Mayor at 4:15 p.m. on Dec. 29 at City Hall.
Incumbent Alderman Ward 2 Mary Heywood filed at 2:40 p.m. on Dec. 29 for reelection.
Incumbents for the Crawford County R-1 Board of Education have all filed to retain their seats. Positions are currently held by Sean Kaysinger, Ryan Cole and Stephen Waldron.
Declaring candidacy early were Waldron at 1:13 p.m., and Kaysinger at 3:06 p.m. on Dec. 9 at the Administration Building. At 2:56 p.m. on Dec. 10, incumbent Cole joined fellow board members and declared to retain his seat.
Each seat comes with a three-year term. Eligible candidates must be 24 years old and have resided in the taxing district and state for at least one year before the election.
