Hughes and Perkins crowned Homecoming royalty of St. James

Alex Hughes and Johnny Perkins were crowned this year’s Homecoming queen and king on Sept. 26 in front of a full crowd at the football field. Three girls and four boys were vying for the crown.

Hughes is the daughter of Justin and Lori Hughes. She is active in FBLA, National Honor Society and track and field. In her spare time, she enjoys walking her dog and teaching him new tricks, shopping and hanging out with her friends and family.

Perkins is the son of Mark and Lori Perkins. He is active in cross country, basketball, track, is the student council president, FBLA District 11 president, and is involved in FCCLA, National Honor Society, Teens 4 Jesus leadership team, Missouri Youth Fellowship team and Pep Club. In his spare time, he enjoys working at 7 Brew, writing a novel, hanging out with friends and studying law.

Other queen candidates included Avery Campbell and Jaci Foust.

Campbell is the daughter of Chuck and LeAnn Yowel and Davey Campbell. She is active in FFA, 4-H, FBLA, National Honor Society, Beta Club, student council, Teens 4 Jesus, basketball and track. In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends and eating at Taco Bell.

Foust is the daughter of Justin and Jessie Foust. She is active in FFA, FBLA, basketball and National Honor Society. In her spare time, she enjoys catching up on sleep and hanging out with her boyfriend.

Other king candidates included Ethan Collier, Rowdy Cantrell and Andrew Lillis.

Collier is the son of Crystal Collier and Josh Thornhill. He is active in the football program. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Cantrell is the son of Josh and Jamie Cantrell. He is active in football, and in his spare time, he enjoys fishing and hunting.

Lillis is the son of Brian and Karen Lillis. He is active in football, choir and Teens 4 Jesus. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Attendants for this year’s coronation included freshmen Landri Abel and Issac Siders, sophomores Jaylin Durrett and Levi Carnessali, and juniors Marley Light and Gentry Beam.

Abel is the daughter of Shay and Victoria Abel. She is active in volleyball, golf, FBLA, FFA and Teens 4 Jesus. In her spare time, she enjoys shopping with her mom, golfing with her dad, and spending time with her friends.

Siders is the son of Nathanael and Lara Siders. He is involved in basketball and Teens 4 Jesus. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his friends.

Durrett is the daughter of Josh and Jennifer Durrett. She is active in FBLA and soccer. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her friends.

Carnessali is the son of Amanda Hotaling and Bud Carnessali. He plays football and enjoys eating and relaxing in his spare time.

Light is the daughter of Dustin and Crystal Light. She is involved in soccer and National Honor Society. In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends and doing her nails.

Beam is the son of Nathan and Terri Beam. He is a member of the Red Regiment Marching Band. In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball with his friends and marching in the band.

This year’s mini queen was Kendall Lorts. She is the daughter of Justin and Kristin Lorts. She enjoys swimming, helping her mom cook, working in the garden, leading her bottle calf Miss Cindy, riding in the tractor with her dad and cheering on her brother and sister at their sporting events.

Rinehart is the son of Ross and Kasey Rinehart. He enjoys wrestling, raising his farm animals and spending time with his brother.

Coronation was the culmination of the week of activities for students as they celebrated homecoming. Students spent the week celebrating with Spirit Days, a homecoming assembly and a parade before the coronation.
