June Lavada (nee Cover) Brooks was born June 10, 1932 in Boss, Missouri to Frank and Bertha (nee Short) Cover and passed away September 23, 2025 at the age of 93 years.
June had many memories growing up near Bucksnort Creek.
On September 18, 1948, June married Noel Brooks.
June worked at the International Shoe Factory, Barards Lingerie, and in the laundry department at Seville Care Center for many years before becoming a Nurse Aide with Salem Memorial District Hospital. She retired after 20 years.
In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and creating floral arrangements. June was also a talented writer and often wrote custom poems for family milestones.
She liked to go camping, often spending time at Montauk State Park and Circle B Campground. She was an avid rock collector, always looking to add to her collection. She enjoyed watching birds, cardinals were her favorite.
June was a faithful Christian woman who loved the Lord and made her faith a part of her everyday life. She was a member of Boss Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Noel Brooks; parents, Frank and Bertha (Short) Cover; and 14 siblings.
She is survived by her children, Rick Brooks of Raytown, Missouri, Dawn Paul of Salem, Missouri, Beth Light and husband Ron of Salem, Missouri and Frank Brooks and wife Melissa of Bourbon, Missouri; sister, Edith Faulkner of Boss, Missouri; grandchildren, Heather Paul and wife Tonya, Dustin Brooks and husband Thad, April Hurd, Brittany Robbins and husband Chris, Jacob Brooks and wife Jessica and Dakota Light and wife Briana; great grandchildren, Dawson and wife Bethany, Logan, Rylee, and Emmett; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 29, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel in Salem, Missouri with Pastor Frank Brooks and Pastor Elvie Hedrick officiating. Special music was provided by pianist Landra Miller and soloist Jim Pryor.
Serving as pallbearers were Chris Robbins, Cody Light, Dawson Paul, Shannon Miller, Brad Land, and Lee Allen Miller. Honorary pallbearers were Dustin Brooks, Jacob Brooks, Ron Light, and Emmett Robbins.
Burial in the Boss Cemetery.
