A Steelville teenager is dead following a head-on crash at 11:04 p.m. Sunday in Camden County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop F reports the teen was the driver of a northbound 2011 Chevrolet Impala which crossed over the centerline on Highway 5 eight-tenths of a mile north of Dry Hollow Road and struck a 2022 Peterbilt 389. The teen was pronounced dead at the scene by Camden County Medical Examiner Drew Hall at 11:57 p.m. Nov. 2. This was the troops first fatality in November and the 40th in 2025.
The driver of the Peterbilt was traveling south. He was identified only as an Owensville man, 45. He was wearing a seat belt but the teen was not, according to the MSHP report.
Sheriff’s deputies from Camden and Washington counties assisted with the MSHP Major Crash Team’s on-scene investigation and notifying family, according to the Patrol’s report. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by Bledsoe Conoco.
