Stephen R. “Steve” Durbin of Sullivan, Missouri was born November 29, 1944 in Decatur, Illinois to Stephen R. Durbin Jr. and Eileen (Bell) Durbin-Ayres and passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at the age of 80 years.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran who proudly served during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he retired from the Taylorville Correctional Center, where he served as a Corrections Food Service Supervisor with the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Steve married Wilma Spencer on March 29, 2014 in Taylorville, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Travis Durbin; brother, Frank Durbin; and sister, Verna Iklil.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma of Sullivan, Missouri; son, Josh (Aubrey) Durbin of Manhattan, Kansas; stepson, Cuyler (Natalie) Robinson of LaGrange, Illinois; granddaughter, Skianna (Devin) Anglen of Centralia, Illinois; grandchildren, Addison, Max, and Masen Durbin all of Manhattan, Kansas; step-grandchildren, Henry, Grant and Lucas Robinson all of LaGrange, Illinois; sisters, Teresa Cure of Kansas City, Missouri and Judy (Mike) Schanta of St. James, Missouri; brother, Dr. Ron (Aina) Durbin of Rolla, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Graveside service with full military honors were held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Asher Cemetery in St. James, Missouri.
