Wayne Wilson Blunt of Steelville, Missouri was born on Monday, Oct. 15, 1934 in Butts, Missouri to Woodrow W. Blunt and Anna Mahalia (nee Walker) Blunt and passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 20 days.
Wayne married Rosemary Margaret Jones Roberts on June 27, 1958.
He served two years in the US Army from 1954 to 1956 and one year in Korea.
He worked several jobs, he worked in a factory, part owner of a service station, restaurant and sporting goods store, drove a truck, owned an electronics supply business, was a real estate broker, manager of the pro shop at Cuba Lakes Golf Course and was a pest control tech before he retired in 1999.
He was elected to the Crawford Electric Co-Op Board of Directors and served 28 years. After giving up his seat on the board, he was recognized by the Missouri Association of Electric Co-Op, who presented him with the A.C. Burrows award for outstanding service.
He loved his Masonic Lodge work, serving as Worshipful Master twice and Secretary for many years.
He loved woodworking and playing golf with his friends before his failing eyesight forced him to give it up.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Anna Blunt; wife, Rosemary Blunt; mother-in-law, Mary Clymer Jones, brother-in-law, Leroy Pinnell; and niece, Leslie Pinnell.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Catherine “Kaky” Pinnell of Cuba, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Bill (Carol) Pinnell of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Steve (Ginny) Pinnell of Columbia, South Carolina, Debbie (Jim) Mallinckrodt of Overland Park, Kansas and Diane Pinnell of Cuba, Missouri; seven great nieces and nephews, Kenneth Pinnell of Columbia, South Carolina, Patrick Pinnell of Austin, Texas, Rebecca (Eric) Patterson of Irmo, South Carolina, Jennae Pinnell and Katie (Mark) Lindsay both of Albuquerque, New Mexico, AJ (Nikki) Mallinckrodt of Olathe, Kansas and Stephanie (Andy) Gillard of Louisburg, Kansas; 7 great great nieces and nephews, JR and Levi Mallinckrodt, Logan and Cooper Gillard, Wesley Lindsay, Shea Patterson and Zoé Patterson; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Masonic service was held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Celebration of Life following with Rev. Jerry Beers officating.
Following Wayne's wishes, the family chose cremation as his final disposition.
Inurnment was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Steelville Cemetery in Steelville, Missouri.
